Killing for Love

Killing for Love re-opens one of the most disputed murder cases in recent American legal history. In 1985 the parents of Elizabeth Haysom were brutally murdered in Virginia. Elizabeth and her German boyfriend Jens Söring fled the country, were arrested in London and extradited to the United States. Söring confessed to the double murder and was sentenced to two life terms; Haysom received a 90-year sentence. Years later, Söring claimed he confessed only to protect Elizabeth, the woman he loved.

Directed by Marcus Vetter and Karin Steinberger, the film dissects the case through interviews, archival material and legal records, asking what truth and justice mean when memory, love and politics collide.
