Synopsis
Peaks for Peace (developed under the working title “Savage Mountain”) follows an extraordinary expedition to K2, the second-highest and most dangerous mountain in the world. But this ascent is more than a sporting adventure — it is a mission for peace.
At its centre is Hong Trinh, an experienced mountaineer with a message: she intends to raise a “NO WAR” flag on the summit of K2, a symbol against war and violence. In a world shaped by conflict, her expedition stands for humanity, solidarity and hope.
The film accompanies Hong and her team from the first preparations to the extreme demands of the climb. K2 — the “Savage Mountain” — is notorious for unpredictable weather, sheer ice walls and a high fatality rate; every step demands physical strength, mental resilience and trust in the team.
Visually the film combines FPV drone flights, intimate close-ups of the climbers, wide panoramas and high-resolution night footage that makes the solitude of the death zone tangible. Alongside the ascent it draws close to Hong herself and to her conviction that even under the most extreme conditions a peaceful message can be carried forward — a reflection on the human will to cross limits, physical and ideological alike.
